Karl Savage has only had one major goal in his entire life- to draw for a living.

In recent years, Karl has storyboarded an entire film, done illustrations for newspaper articles, developed several creator-owned properties, co-founded and is an editor of "Anchorbird: a Collaborative Webcomic" (anchorbird.blogspot.com), and is currently working on a 5-issue limited series for IDW to be released (tentatively) in 2010.

Karl's contributions to Ashtray Comics thus far have been a one page story entitled "Procrastination" in issue #1 (based on a true story), and several promos for his new, ongoing Ashtray comic strip entitled "Deeper Vision," which will be starting in issue #7.

Sources of his inspiration include circles, Daredevil, name etymology, Japan, sandwiches, mythology, Bill Watterson, flying dreams, stand-up comedy, Jack Kirby, blankets, pillows & beds, Murder By Death, arguments, Lucky Strike cigarettes, well-written stories, the films of Akira Kurosawa, the human condition, the Adventures of Tintin, airships, crime stories, Ernie Pyle, The Mars Volta, and his family.
