Adam Foster Born May, 1974, Tucson, Az 1978 (4 years old) I was drawing pictures of the Incredible Hulk every day with crayons and crayola markers. 1979 (5 years old) I graduate to an actual pencil. During this era I was drawing the Hulk smashing the crap out of people every day. My mom gets called into my school because they're "concerned" about the voilent content of my art. 1990 (Junior in HS), I'm drawing Ruthless Tales on typing paper, blue penciled and inked with some tech pens. I'd shrink them down half size and my boy Matt Stricker would help me fold 'em and staple 'em. Each issue was just two folded pieces of paper, we'd sell them for 50 cents. Ruthless Tales had a 3 issue run before I graduated in 92. 1992 (Fresh out of HS). I get a job at the indoor swap meet, a comic stand called Dimension X. Eventually they promote me to the adult movie stand right next door (I know what you're thinking and yes it was awesome). My replacements at the comic stand introduce themselves as Eric Schock and Adrian Cronin (it takes two people to replace me). Eric would show me his new drawings each weekend and I'd ridicule him about how horrible they were. Luckily for Ash-Tray readers he became a bad ass. 1993 (19 years old) I start a new Ruthless Tales comic to be printed by my employer Dimension X. I get 10 pages into it before I stop drawing for the next 15 years. Why did I stop? That's a good question. 2009 (35 years old) I'm looking through all my old shit and I find a drawing done by Eric Schock. I google his name to see if he made something of himself. I find his Deviant Art page and his outdated Evil Robo page. I order all the Ash-Tray comics and Email him. It seems my brutal critisism of his art all those years ago made an impression. He remembers who I am and gives me a call. The Evil Robo team decided to give me a chance to return to my roots. I've dusted off the old drawing table and it's time to kick major ass! |
